Scientists of the Veterinary Research Institute have created a new vaccine and diagnosticum

With the coordinating role of the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, great work is being done to ensure the integration of science, education and production in various sectors of the economy, as well as to consistently implement its tasks by introducing advanced biotechnologies.

There are currently 98 employees at the Veterinary Research Institute, 10 of whom are doctors of science, professors, 10 are candidates of science, 48 are research workers, 11 are doctoral students, and 19 are working in scientific laboratories. The average age of scientific employees is 48 years, the number of scientific employees under 35 years is 18. More than 30 scientific developments have been prepared by scientists of the institute, patents for more than 10 inventions have been obtained in recent years. By the end of 2021, 9 types of scientific developments are being introduced on the basis of contracts with 144 livestock farms, veterinary drugs worth 823 million soums. In cooperation with the Russian company "Khema", the production of diagnostics for modern IFA, PCR reactions was started at the base of the institute.

In 2021, the Veterinary ITI together with Uzbekistan-Russia "UNIGEN" LLC JV company was financed by the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan with a total cost of 1.4 billion. two start-up projects are being implemented, amounting to soum. Based on this, a site for the production of kits and reagents for immunoenzymatic analysis (IFT) was established, and practical work was started in this regard. In addition, modern kits for IFT and express test systems for the diagnosis of animal diseases and quality control of food products have been produced and introduced.

Today, the production site has been filled with the necessary expensive equipment, in which the production of diagnostic test systems is planned this year, and in parallel, scientific research is being conducted on the development of local kits for IFT. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, production of domestic, including new generation, immunobiological drugs has been launched in Uzbek veterinary science.

Currently, as a result of the implementation of these projects, rapid diagnosis of livestock and prevention of pasteurellosis, salmonellosis and colibacteriosis of livestock in Urgut free economic zone have been developed and the diseases are being prevented.

The development created by the scientists of the Veterinary Research Institute under the startup project "Introduction of GOA formalin vaccine against colibacteriosis, salmonellosis and pasteurellosis of farm animals" in the territory of Urgut economic zone and in livestock farms of the whole republic This development was approved and commercialized by the Ministry of Innovative Development in order to prevent and fight against colibacteriosis, salmonellosis and pasteurellosis in sheep. As a result, a new production mini-shop was established to expand the production of this vaccine. It created 5 additional jobs and increased production by 20 percent. This project started in July 2021, from this month until now 210,000 doses, that is, 232 mln. Soum products were produced. Vaccines were delivered to all livestock farms of the Samarkand region and the republic, and the above-mentioned diseases were prevented.

As part of the project "Development of immuno-enzyme analysis (IFT) test kits for the diagnosis of viral and bacterial diseases of animals", diagnostic kits for detecting brucellosis of livestock, created by scientists of the Veterinary Scientific Research Institute, were created and put into practice. As a result, a "Leukosis IgG-IFA" kit was created for the inspection of bred cattle imported from abroad, and 117.0 mln. sold for soum. In addition, the production capacity of rose bengal antigen for rapid detection of brucellosis disease was increased by 20%, 9 additional jobs were created.
