* GII is a ranking of countries in the world in terms of global research and innovative development, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with various corporate and academic industry partners and the GII Advisory Board. The GII consists of 7 areas and 78 indicators, which characterize the innovative development of countries at different levels of economic development. This index consists of two subindices - available resources and conditions for the implementation of innovations (Innovation Input) and practical results achieved in the implementation of innovations (Innovation Output).

According to the speakers, by the end of 2024, Uzbekistan ranked 83rd among 133 countries in the Global Innovation Index. Uzbekistan ranked 4th among 10 countries in the Central and South Asian region, achieving a high level of national economic development in the field of innovation.

For information, in the 2024 ranking, countries were assessed according to 78 indicators. Accordingly, Uzbekistan improved its position in 40 indicators. Also, for the first time, 8 out of 10 indicators that were not available for Uzbekistan in 2023 were reflected in the 2024 ranking. The coverage of structural indicators reached 97.4% (62.5% in 2015, 81.4% in 2022, and 87.5% in 2023).
