Within the framework of the first Uzbek-Latvian Education Forum, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kongratbay Sharipov, held a meeting with the Minister of Education of Latvia, Dace Melbárde.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed in detail the prospects for cooperation in the field of higher education, science, and innovation. It was noted that in recent years, relations between our countries have moved away from traditional economic directions and have significantly developed in the areas of education, science, and innovation.

During the conversation, the issue of launching joint educational programs between the universities of Latvia and Uzbekistan was considered as a promising area of cooperation.

Minister Kongratbay Sharipov put forward a number of initiatives to further expand cooperation. Including:

accelerate the development of joint educational programs, especially in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) areas;

creation of necessary conditions for internships and internships for Uzbek students at Latvian industrial enterprises;

organization of a competition for joint scientific projects in such priority areas as food security, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, renewable energy;

Expansion of academic exchange within the framework of the Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ programs;

consideration of the possibility of concluding an intergovernmental agreement on the mutual recognition of diplomas and qualifications obtained at universities of the two countries.

In turn, the Minister of Education of Latvia, Dace Melbárde, expressed his readiness to consider these proposals and expressed confidence that they will lead to practical results in the future.
