A joint scientific laboratory on food security has been established in Syrdarya.

On September 26, 2025, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations, Qo‘g‘irotboy Sharipov, during his working visit to Syrdarya, held a meeting at Gulistan State University with a delegation consisting of Professor Jinpeng Yuan from Shandong Baolai Leelai Bio-Tech Group, and Professors Lihon Wang and Fan Chuanfang from the Test-Analytical Center of the Shandong Academy of Sciences.

During the negotiations, it was noted that the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China is steadily developing not only in political and economic spheres but also in the fields of education, science, and innovation. Prospects for future innovative projects were also discussed.

One of the main issues on the agenda was the establishment of the “China–Uzbekistan” International Joint Laboratory, created in cooperation with Shandong Baolai Leelai Bio-Tech Group, the Test-Analytical Center of the Shandong Academy of Sciences, and the Research Institute of Agrobiotechnology and Biochemistry at Gulistan State University.

It was emphasized that this laboratory will conduct research in the areas of food security, soil fertility, biotechnology, and plant breeding, and will contribute to solving pressing problems in the agricultural sector.

Following this, the symbolic opening ceremony of the international joint laboratory was held.

As part of the event, Minister Qo‘g‘irotboy Sharipov familiarized himself with the activities of the Research Institute of Agrobiotechnology and Biochemistry under Gulistan State University.

Considering the growing interest in studying the Chinese language at Gulistan State University, it was announced that a bachelor’s degree program in Chinese language will be launched from the next academic year.

At the end of the visit, a presentation of the project for the “Test-Analytical Analysis” International Joint Laboratory, planned to be established within Uzbekistan–China cooperation, was held, and it was reported that construction works are expected to commence soon.
