The “Five Initiatives Olympiad” sports competitions have begun.

On September 20 of this year, at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies, the “Five Initiatives Olympiad” sports competitions, involving students of higher and vocational educational institutions, were officially launched.

The event was attended by the President’s Representative for Sports, Odil Abdurakhmonov; the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov; the Minister of Sports, Adham Ikramov; the Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov; the leadership of the National Olympic Committee; representatives of the Youth Affairs Agency, the Mahalla Association, the National Paralympic Committee; as well as the rectors of all universities in Tashkent.

The ceremony took place at the TUIT sports hall, with representatives from higher education institutions in 13 regions of the country joining online via the ZOOM platform.

In his opening speech, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov, emphasized that the competitions were launched on the initiative of the President and, for three years, have played an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle among youth and developing mass sports.

It was noted that today universities have at least three sports clubs in 26 Olympic disciplines, with 721 sports sections operating, and a unified system for organizing competitions has been established.

During the 2024 season (September–December), more than 442,000 university students participated in four-stage competitions (faculty–university–regional–national) in five sports (mini-football, volleyball, streetball, athletics, and table tennis).

In addition, this year, within the framework of the “Five Initiatives Olympiad,” three-stage competitions (institution–district–regional) will be organized for vocational education students in volleyball, athletics, checkers, chess, and table tennis.

For university students, four-stage competitions (faculty–university–regional–national) will be held in mini-football, volleyball, streetball, athletics, and table tennis.

Overall, more than 700,000 students are planned to be involved throughout the year.

At the event, for their active cooperation in promoting physical education and sports among students, the following were awarded the honorary badge “Excellence in Physical Education and Sports”:
– Madamin Madazimov, Rector of Andijan State Medical Institute,
– Ilhomjon To‘xtasinov, Rector of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages,
– G‘ofurjon Muhammadov, Rector of Chirchiq State Pedagogical University,
– Rustam Xolmurodov, Rector of Samarkand State University,
– Baxtiyor Mahkamov, Rector of Tashkent University of Information Technologies,
– Dilshod Ibadullayev, First Vice-Rector of Urgench State University.

Students who met the performance standards were awarded certificates, while winners and prize-winners received I, II, and III degree badges of “Physical Fitness Level” and commemorative gifts.

The “Five Initiatives Olympiad” serves to unlock the talents of young people, nurture them as physically healthy and morally mature individuals, and strengthen the spirit of unity and loyalty to the Motherland.
